Doctor Sleep by Stephen King (2013)

This summer, I took the time to dive into several of Stephen King‘s novels. After reading Revival, Finders Keepers, and Carrie, I finally finished Doctor Sleep, the long-awaited sequel to The Shining. While Revival left a strong impression on me, I must say that Doctor Sleep stands on the same level. Although I haven’t read The Shining yet (I’ve only seen Kubrick’s film), this sequel still managed to captivate me.

Carrie by Stephen King (1974)

Carrie, Stephen King’s first novel, tells the story of a bullied high school girl with telekinetic powers. Tormented by her peers and her religious mother, she seeks revenge during her prom, leading to catastrophic events. The novel explores themes of cruelty, isolation, and psychological trauma, showcasing King’s talent for delving into the darkest aspects of the human psyche.

God Bless America by François Ide

God Bless America by François Ide is a short, well-written novel that promises an engaging look into deep America. While the author’s impeccable style may appeal to some, the moralizing and condescending tone towards rural Americans makes it a difficult read. Despite this, the book effectively transports readers to the vast landscapes of Colorado, offering a brief escape. Overall, though, it’s not a book I’d recommend.

Finders Keepers by Stephen King (2016)

Some time ago, I stumbled upon Revival by Stephen King. Without giving it much thought, I bought it, not really planning to dive into it anytime soon. After finishing a fascinating biography, I found myself searching for a new summer read. That’s when this book, casually placed on top of my pile, caught my eye. I grabbed it, and from the very first pages, I couldn’t put it down. It wasn’t until I had finished the book that I realized just how deeply it had gripped me.

Providence Canyon: a journey through the desert

Souvent le samedi matin, je fais une promenade en écoutant un ou deux épisodes de podcast, les AirPods vissés dans les oreilles. L’autre jour, Check In m’a ainsi permis de découvrir le roman « Providence Canyon » de Corinne Cotereau. Pour rappel, ce même podcast m’avait déjà fait découvrir un autre livre captivant, « DreamLand » de Martine Couralet-Laing.

I recently came across the book “”Instant Karma: The Day It Happened” by David Michie on the shelves of a store. The cover intrigued me and the subject of karma has always interested me. I quickly looked at the summary and left with the book under my arm.
